1/23/2017 0 Comments Knee High SocksI've always loved stockings and knee high socks, so it was about time that I made some! I've been making the much smaller socks for awhile now but talking to someone about doing a custom order of knee high socks really sparked my desire to make them. I didn't want to wait to do the custom order when it is such a cool idea (and they are something that I will actually wear). I chose these colors because they are bright and happy, and those are the type of things I want to be surrounded by! I actually used a bunch of yarn scraps from other projects, and from ones that I took apart because I made a new and better version of the item. I think these will look really cute with a black skirt and a plain white, lavender, yellow, pink, or gold tank top. I'm not that big into crazy patterns so most of my tank tops are just simple colors but I have been liking stripes more and more as I crochet (and I bet these would look awesome in Lich King stripes, thinking about it makes me want to bring out my inner goth XD). I also think that knee high socks are pretty sexy, which is nice because efficient plus sexy does not usually go together! Having something happy, fun, useful, and sexy seems like the perfect combo to me! I am super excited that it is getting warmer so that I can wear them! 1/22/2017 0 Comments Dyes my love. Guild Wars 2As you can tell from the title I love dyes, so so very much! I have almost all of the colors you can get from the unidentified dyes and a lot of the special dyes. When unidentified dyes dropped like crazy I loved opening them. It was like a present, and the excitement of not knowing what I was going to get. The surprise factor has always been fun for me and I love customizing my outfits with dyes. Its probably part of the reason I have so many different yarns in real life I like being able to customize things (and allow other people to customize as much as they want :D). A lot of people draw better using black and white but I was never that way. I always wanted to take a image that was in color and draw it in color (I was much better at color to color than color to black and white). I see the world full of so many beautiful colors, it is magical. I love that I can dye my outfit and even if someone would have the same exact outfit as me (which is unlikely unless I am wearing one of the outfits from the gem store) mine would still be different because of the dyes. Dyes may not seem like a big deal in the overall, as they are a little piece of the game but being able to really make something your own is a very special feeling. Something that allows you to feel unique. You could be a rainbow in the snow :D, or an elegant fairy, you could make your character look like a superhero or cosplay a character from something else. You can make your character into whoever you want them to be. And that is pretty cool. Sometimes when I just want to relax, to do something soothing, I just sit there and play with the dyes. Looking at colors and how they look together, there is something magical about it. Something peaceful. Being able to dye my armor is very special to me, and I love that it is in Guild Wars 2. Pretty much every time I log in I change my dyes, because I can :). MMO's give us that, they give us the chance to be our own success stories. It is a beautiful magical experience trying so hard for something then finally getting it. This lesson is an important one, so often people give up on what they want because they've failed a couple of times, but failing is okay, failure means your trying. So often you hear about the success stories the people that made it big but you don't hear about how many times they failed to get there or how hard they had to work. Success don't just happen (for more people), you work for it, just like you work for beating that one boss that is giving you trouble. For me I don't know how many times I had to try to defeat Professor Putricide before we finally got it. At the time it was a hard fight for our raid but finally we got it. Some of the first screenshots I took of getting twilight, my first legendary and boy was it a lot of work, but I am happy I have it. One of the great things about video games is that they have something you work for and to get that thing you have to keep going, never giving up. It is important to remember that great things don't always come easily and failing isn't a bad thing, failing is teaching, teaching you what needs to be changed to get on the right path. Like dying on a fight over and over again until finally you figure out the mechanics or look them up. Life isn't always easy, but as long as you stay on track and keep trying you will be your own success story. Never give up, never surrender, if life has taught me nothing else, this would be the most important thing to know. I've gone through a lot for me and at some points I thought about giving up, but I didn't something always pulled me back. And its a good thing that it did because I am in a much better place than I was and on the road to my success story (with little success stories along the way :)).
It is another important part of this lesson, to enjoy the little successes. It doesn't always have to be a big step to be valuable, each little step takes you that much closer to the end goal. Like when the boss is so close to dead when you wipe or you reached the gold promos and lost. You got there and you will get there again, and do even better. If you ever feel like giving up, just remember how far you've come, how many battles you've faced and won, and remember to keep looking at where you want to be. Do not lose sight of the end goal, as long as you keep your focus on getting there and have faith that you will, you will find a way. You will be your own success story. 1/20/2017 0 Comments Cooler Gaming GlovesI wanted to make some gaming gloves for family, but they live in a warmer area. That's when it dawned on me. If I used a similar stitch to one that I had just used for a scarf I could make a cooler gaming glove that still gives support but has vents on top. This is what I came up with (I took it apart three times before I got to this). Because the stitches are farther apart it leaves room for the air to travel through the top of the gloves (personally I think a size larger than your normal hand size is even better for this because it allow more air to get in because there is more room). The bottom of the glove is the same as my normal gaming gloves with the thicker stitch. This way it still gives the wrists the cushion they need but allows the hands to be cooler. As most gamers know when your playing games you will usually get that red mark on your wrists (which can sometimes be pretty painful). I've known some people who get cuts or blisters there because of the constant rubbing and pressure. This prevents that. There still may be a little bit of a red mark but it goes away fast and doesn't get to that cuts/blisters point. I redid the gloves I made for my boyfriend as well, he was getting the mark with pain but the gloves were too warm for him so I redid them to be cooler for him (For him I also made a desk edge cover, it is kind of like a sock that covers just the edge of his desk because he was getting pretty bad bruises from it constantly digging into his arm). I've had a lot of people ask how warm the gloves are because they didn't like being warm or figured it would make their hands sweaty (personally I wear mine all year round regardless of how warm it is because of how much they help but for someone who is worried about that these are definitely a better choice). Trust me you don't want your wrists getting messed up (I had tendinitis in both of my wrists) you use them for Everything, until I hurt them I didn't realize how much I actually used them and how big of a deal each little wrist movement can be.
To sum up these gloves are a lot cooler than the other gaming gloves but still give the wrists a nice wrist cushion to prevent pain and rubbing that can happen while playing video games (or doing any activities that make you press your wrists hard on a hard surface, a lot of desk activities have you doing that). They are great for people living in warmer areas or who are just normally warmer. Something else to do for end game, the only thing that I wish about it is that more would be added, I know there are a lot of people who rushed to finish them so they could get one of the new legendaries and there hasn't been much added to them. I liked being able to experience gliding without all of the bells and whistles at first then slowly but surely get new gliding skills. It was of course the most important one to finish out of the mastery tracks. I think part of it for me is that I would like to see more Central Tyria masteries. There are a lot of Heart of Thorns masteries but not as many Central Tyria ones. They would need to put in more mastery points in Central Tyria for this but I still think it would be cool. Central Tyria is where I fell in love with the game and I like being able to earn something from going back to it.
I think the masteries give something extra to the end game, and do help with the feel of having something to do. Since the biggest complaint from people about the original Guild Wars 2 was that it lacked end game, I think they took this in consideration with Heart of Thorns in general and hope to see them improve on the end game even more with the next expansion :). Personally I preferred leveling when I started in Wrath of the Lich King, but I also had a lot more time to level then. Leveling to me always felt like something you had to do to be able to do what you want to do. Always being focused on end game. I do prefer leveling over using the boost though. I used the boost on a druid in Draenor leveled it to max and barely played it and then stopped altogether (that also has to do something with the fact that it was a troll, I really don't like trolls but there aren't very many druid options and I had to stay Horde). I've heard a lot of people say that they boosted character then never played them. I feel like leveling is an important part of learning the class. Part of why I stopped playing the druid was because I just didn't know what I was doing and there wasn't any lower level content that I needed to do anymore/wouldn't be a good learning experience since it would be too easy. I am a big fan of the heirloom gear to help you level but I still don't feel like it is enough. I having to get to level 80 felt like a good number, not too slow that it really dragged but it was also enough time to learn the class. Once I hit 80 I felt like I had a pretty good grasp on what I could do with my class. Thinking about getting from 1-110 feels like a lot (and I know there are potions and whatnot but there is RNG involved in those dropping, which can get annoying). The legion invasions before the expansion actually launched were a big help to this problem. The leveling was so much faster and I liked getting the loot from them too :3. Characters that are closer to max level don't feel as bad (I don't know how many DK's I leveled out of the starting zone because of this lol). This has always been the case though. The character that is closer to max level than the others usually seems more appealing to level. Personally I would like to see more heirloom items (boots, gloves, wrists, belts) or some of the heirloom items that don't give xp (weapons, necks, trinkets) give xp buffs. I know some people can level crazy fast with all the buffs (with potions) and whatnot but personally I'd rather see some buffed heirloom gear than having the potions at all. I like having something and being able to keep it verses having something that will go away in a certain amount of time.
Overall I don't mind leveling sometimes I just wish it was a little friendlier to people who play more casually XD. Also I think having a matching belt, gloves, and wrists to go with the heirloom gear would be really nice, sometimes you end up with that really odd green belt that doesn't match your heirloom gear at all, it just looks silly, and reminds me of Outlands lol. This first set is the outfit my Elementalist wears :). I have no idea what I would name it XD. Wreath of Cooperation Winter's Presence Carapace Vestment Primitive Handwraps Phoenix Pants Illustrious Footwear Golden Feather Wings Backpack Azimuth And the Dyes are Buttercream, Electro Pink, and Celestial :) I think something like Modern Athena would be a good name for this one! (the staff fit nicely for both of these XD) Carapace Cowl Sorcerer's Epaulets Seer Coat Student Gloves Inquest Breeches Illustrious Footwear White Feather Wings Backpack Azimuth And the dyes are Electro Peach, Electro Lemon, and Celestial The Student of Air.
Mind of Koda Tempest's Loop Stately Garb Seer Gloves Acolyte Pants Diviner Boots Glyphic Staff Winder Catcher And the Dyes are Electro Purple, Glint's Isolation, and Celestial. I like the missions a lot more than the ones in Warlords of Draenor. If you have more than one character with a Garrison in Draenor it got overwhelming and there were a lot of only follower related XP missions or one that were for follower upgrades that you didn't need anymore. The new missions feel more rewarding, with them actually giving more of the things you would want, from reputation, to quests, pet charms, things from rare missions ect... This missions also feel considerably more manageable. I like having less followers to deal with and keep track of (although personally I would love to have 6 followers instead of 5 so that last once could be a combat ally or so there would be an even number for missions (since you need 3 for each mission)). I also like that you are able to choose the equipment slots and that there are rare equipment slot items that have better buffs. Over all I like the feel of the missions all around better than the ones in Draenor. I always thought the mission idea was cool but it became overwhelming pretty fast, so the new system takes the cool idea and makes it a lot more manageable. I mean who doesn't like getting the goods for almost no effort XD. It feels like getting presents especially with the extra success percentage you can get on missions. At like 80% you feel like your going to get that extra item but you just don't know for sure and when you do get it, it is like a bonus present that you weren't sure you were getting :D.
I hope they keep the missions in the next expansion! They add a nice little something extra to the game :). This is my favorite outfit for my priest :D. I know things can be tough but it gets better. I've been anorexic, depressed and suicidal, abused by ex's, asthma so bad I can't really be in public (had to finish high school online because of this), I've felt lost, and not known who I am, I smoked cigarettes, lost loved ones and pets (who were basically my brothers and sisters), had endometriosis, wisdom teeth badly impacted (and terrible dentists that made my jaw pain worse & caused a long string of problems). Those are just some of the things that have happened to me (and I know there are people who have had it worse than me). I survived. One of the biggest things that I've learned from this is the idea of never giving up and never surrendering. Through a couple of these things I could have given up and I wouldn't be here anymore (likely for me I am religious so that is probably one of the main things that saved me through the suicidal bits, and thinking of my parents, they loved me by are very dysfunctional when it comes to communicating, and through a lot of this I got kind of lost because I didn't know how to communicate either). Strangely one of the other things I learned is how important the things you eat are. You wouldn't put coconut oil in a car and expect it to run, so you can't really put crap in your body and expect it to function well either (or you know not really putting anything in it doesn't help either, seriously anorexic don't do it, and if you are going down that path seek help, I have faced a lot of health issues because of being anorexic (not just during the periods where I was anorexic but after too). This is a little bit about Candida Overgrowth (which some people don't believe exist but really it just needs more research done about it) I can tell you even if it isn't real doing a lot of things that the Candida diets has you do has helped my health. I stopped taking prevacid (nasty medication, it was giving me a lot of side effects). My depression drastically improved, along with a lot of other symptoms I was facing. I started eating a lot of raw garlic (you smell like garlic all the time, but it has been worth it, I make my bf hungry for garlicy foods lol) and coconut oil (both of these things are really good for you. I also cut down on eating sugars (sugar in general just isn't that great for you, you need to have some but over all people consume way too much)).
So why am I telling you about this? This seemed like an inspirational story kind of post right? Well all of this is good to know because you could do some of these things and see if your symptoms improve. As far as depression goes before I started doing this I felt like I had no control of my emotions, they would swing wildly from one and of the other, I would get sudden burst where I felt very upset for no reason, and since I started doing this I started feeling like I had control. It was such a horrible feeling to not know what was wrong, to not know why I was feeling this way. Now it seems that I was just sick. The diets for a lot of Americans (I don't know what its like for other countries) just suck, they really do, all the heavy processed foods, GMO, and high in sugar/carbs foods (there are other things too but these are some of important ones). You don't need carbs/sugar most people unless they are doing a lot of physical activity just don't need them, if you aren't very active they don't do anything useful for the body (normally they don't have a whole not of nutrients that we need). I know that better foods are expensive (trust me, I find that very frustrating), but if you are feeling sick and depressed, you may want to look at your diet. If you have candida overgrowth switching to the foods that are better for you and cutting out all of the bad stuff (it will make you really sick at first, I felt like I had the flu for like a week, but over feeling sick all the time, trust me it was worth it) The paleo diet is a good thing to look at or keto, I don't know as much about keto but from what I understand they are similar keto just cuts out more). Even if you can't do that because these things are expensive, trying to cut out some of the sugar/carbs can be really helpful (and eating garlic & coconut oil, you are supposed to have probiotics too but I haven't been doing that because the good ones are expensive, if you have money for it probiotics are one of the best things you can do for your health most of the immune system is in our guts so getting that to a healthy state is super important). I have a had a lot of moments before doing this where things started getting better, a lot of it came down to needing to start changing my thinking but changing my diet helped so, so many times more than anything else. Like I said before you wouldn't put coconut oil in your car and expect it to run, you can't put crap in your body and expect it to function well either. With that in mind there are somethings that are a good idea to do, if you have low self esteem every day tell yourself that you are a beautiful, wonderful person (and add in any other good traits about yourself that you want). And be very aware of when you are negative. I was really negative, I beat myself up a lot and until I started being consciously aware of it, I couldn't change it. |
